Pennsylvania Branch President
Joanne
The Pennsylvania Branch of the King’s Daughters and Sons is an interdenominational Christian service organization of men and women. We are dedicated to service in Christ’s name. Our focus is threefold: religious, educational, and philanthropic.
The motto reflects our belief that to look upward is to trust, to look forward is to hope, to look outward is to feel the pain of others, and to lend a hand is love in action. Our purpose is taken from Mark 10:45, “Not to be ministered unto, but to minister.”
Our insignia is the silver Maltese cross engraved with the letters “IHN.” The eight points of the cross represent Christ’s eight Beatitudes: the poor in spirit, they who mourn, they who are persecuted, the meek, the peacemakers, they who hunger and thirst for righteousness, the pure in heart and the merciful (Matthew 5: 3-10). The engraved letters ‘IHN” remind us to do all good works “In His Name.” A silver Maltese Cross pin is the sign of membership in the International Order of the King’s Daughters and Sons.
Membership in the King’s Daughters and sons is open to any person whose purpose and aims are in accord with its mission and who holds herself or himself accountable to the King, our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
JOIN TODAYOur members meet in small groups called Circles. Circles may also be organized into larger groups called branches. Currently there are circles in the United States and Canada. If there is not a Circle in your area, you may join as a member-at-large or start a new Circle with three or more members.
Each local group decides upon its own service projects; not locking itself into one area of service as many other organizations do. In the past, some projects have been: filling backpacks with school supplies for Haiti, knitting hats for cancer patients and for deployed military personnel, preparing meals for the homeless, growing vegetables for our assisted living home, and filling shoe boxes for Operation Christmas Child. Circles have donated books for the Cops for Kids Literacy Program and donated money to the Heifer Project. Financial support for our projects is raised through fund-raising events such as mint making, hoagie sales, and a hot dog wagon. If your group has a particular interest or passion, you may focus your efforts in that area.
In addition to Circle projects, the PA Branch has its own endorsed missions. Our major projects are our assisted living home in Bethlehem and awarding scholarships to students pursuing higher education in the areas of health, education, or the ministry. The PA Branch also participates in the International projects.
